The Vail Theatre of the Arts is proud to present the Chris Burton Jácome Flamenco Ensemble

Join us on an unforgettable trip to Southern Spain with the Chris Burton Jácome Flamenco Ensemble. You will be inspired by the passion and intensity of this world-class ensemble of musicians, singers and flamenco dancers. Chris is one of the most in-demand flamenco guitarists in the US and has been wowing audiences across the nation since his return from living in Seville, Spain where he studied flamenco from the masters of this era. The Chris Burton Jácome Flamenco Ensemble will have you yelling, “Olé!” long after you’ve left the theatre.

Miss Rowell will perform flute repertoire from a variety of composers and styles. This recital is a culmination of Miss Rowell’s work while in high school. She has been accepted to NAU in the fall as a music major.

HarpFusion is the largest touring harp ensemble in the world. The group was begun by Carrol McLaughlin in 1978 and has become respected as one of the world’s most innovative and creative groups. They have appeared in Russia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, China, Spain, Puerto Rico, Holland, Belgium, Liechtenstein, and throughout the United States and Mexico. All of the music that HarpFusion plays is written or arranged by a member of the group, and each student participates in every part of their productions – from content and design concepts to arranging, recording, and editing their CDs and DVDs.  All members of the group are students of Dr. Carrol McLaughlin at the University of Arizona.  All proceeds of the concert will go towards helping the group tour to Brazil in May, where they are starring in the IV Rio HarpFestival.

The Arizona Music Educators presents a concert by the finest high school musicians from over 20 high schools in all of Southern Arizona. Students must be academically eligible and pass a rigorous music audition to be admitted to the group. They rehearse for 2 days under the direction of renowned clinicians and this concert is the result of their work together. A music experience not to be missed.

The Desert Sky Middle School National Junior Honor Society is sponsoring this event to benefit the Tucson Community Food Bank. Round the House performs dynamic instrumentals as well as distinctively crafted arrangements of songs in English and Irish. You will hear jigs and reels, see dancers kick their heels up, and be touched by songs – all in one concert. The Maguire academy produces national level dancers and striking show performances under the tutelage of Darren Maguire and Maeve Croke of Riverdance fame. When the Maguire Academy dancers team up with Round the House, it is sure to be a high spirited rollicking Irish show.

Featuring fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki, guitar, and bodhran (Irish drum), Round the House is based in Tucson Arizona, where they have been awarded the Tucson Area Musicians Award for best traditional ethnic band for six years running. Their members have also won individual awards for best guitar, best strings, and best female vocalist.  Known for creating great rapport with audiences, they have an enthusiastic following that is growing every year.
