Vail High School – A Small School with a BIG Emphasis on Relationships

vhs.gifHave you heard about Vail High School?

VHS is a Vail School District-sponsored charter school (with an “Excelling” label by the AZ Department of Education), located on the UA Science & Technology Park at 9040 S. Rita Road.

I recently informally interviewed Dennis Barger, Principal of Vail High School.

Here’s what he had to say about VHS.

Q. What is unique about Vail High School?

A. One of the most unique aspects of Vail High School is its size and community feel (relationships are a huge part of who we are). Another unique feature is our focus on technology and business.

Q: What are some of the benefits of attending a smaller school?

A. Relationships, more attention, a sense of belonging, access to staff, and a generally safer environment…

Q. What are some of the benefits of being housed at the UA Science & Technology Park?

A. An opportunity to develop relationships with the companies onsite and the UA. A chance daily to see how the adult world interacts in a professional setting while walking to and from school and at lunch.
