New Study: Part Time Jobs for High School Students Pay Off

215584604_a8b9974044_m.jpgA 2003 University of Minnesota study of approximately 750 students found that “those who had worked steadily during high school were more likely to have gotten college degrees by age 30 than students who hadn’t held jobs.”

The September 2007 issue of Good Housekeeping Magazine also pointed out that, “Experts say teens who work during high school are also likely to end up with extra confidence, keen time-management skills, and greater academic success.”

Teens that are looking for jobs should:

1. Consult with their high school guidance counselor.

2. Stop in at local businesses and restaurants that are close to home.

3. Enlist the help of their parents and their parents’ friends.
