Dear Parents,
Vail School District was notified by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) on August 9th that we must increase our lunch prices to qualify to participate in the National School Lunch Reimbursement program this year.
The reimbursement program is vital to the successful operation of our food service program here in Vail, and we have participated for many years. The last price increase was four years ago and prior to that, twelve years ago. Lunch prices at other area districts are higher.
Lunch prices will be increased 10 cents this year and likely increase $0.10 each subsequent year, until we reach the targeted lunch price of $2.50 set by the Department of Education.
The price increase will become effective on Monday, September 10, 2012. This will bring our elementary lunch price to $1.95, middle school $2.10, and high school lunch to $2.35. We appreciate your support of the food service program here in Vail.

Thank you.
